    Mido geht doch wieder zum AS Rom.

    Hier ein interessanter Bericht über Berbatov aus dem Tottenham, Wood Green and Edmonton Journal, in dem ein gewisser "Claus Toppmoller" mit sehr unflätigen Äußerungen über unser Juwel zitiert wird:

    DIMITAR Berbatov made all the right moves when he signed for Tottenham, and his arrival, shortly after one of the most disappointing weeks in the club's history, could not have been better timed.


    But while the Bulgarian's track record, impressive physique and in-demand status suggest a player capable of living up to an eight-figure transfer fee, Martin Jol will know that once again he has picked up a rough diamond.


    Whether he has been brought in to replace Mido or augment him, Berbatov fits the bill for the tall (he stands at 6ft 2in), prolific target man Jol has been searching for.


    When he arrives, and that depends on his work permit, the striker will also be available all summer after Bulgaria failed to qualify for the World Cup, allowing Jol to ease him into his plans for next season, and for him to settle into London life.


    While the vast majority of Premiership strikers will have played football solidly for 12 months, Berbatov will have had virtually the whole summer off.


    Furthermore, Bayer Leverkusen played just one round in the UEFA Cup last season after being knocked out in the first round by Berbatov's former club CSKA Sofia.


    With a UEFA Cup campaign of their own to contend, Spurs should have their new number nine fresh, rested and ready for action.


    But Jol will not just be expected to bring Berbatov up to speed on team tactics. He'll also have to keep the 25-year-old's eye on the ball, if one of his former coaches is to be believed.


    Claus Toppmoller managed arguably the greatest team in Leverkusen's history, taking the club to a Champions League final in 2002 and introducing Berbatov as his spearhead.


    Toppmoller quit in 2003 just as Berbatov was beginning to turn his undoubted talent into goals, but saw enough to raise questions concerning the player's attitude.


    "He can be one of the best strikers around but everyone should be aware he can be a lazy b*****d," said Toppmoller. "He likes his party time."


    Like Mido, Berbatov is a hero in his native country, and comes with a certain degree of baggage, but Jol may be optimistic that his latest signing should prove an easier case to deal with.


    While Mido arrived as an enfant terrible, his behaviour has stood up to scrutiny under Jol, with only his body unwilling to stand up to the rigours of the Premiership.


    Berbatov, meanwhile is less hampered by injury than the Egyptian, and left Leverkusen on good terms, with the cash-strapped Bundesliga side happy to see their main asset go anywhere other than Bayern Munich.


    By all accounts, Berbatov's performances on the pitch rest largely on careful guidance from an instinctive man-manager.


    In Euro 2004 Berbatov cut a surly figure, answering all questions about his team's defensive strategy with the terse answer: "Why don't you ask the coach?"


    But while some managers cannot stomach such strong-willed individuals, Jol has carefully developed an open-minded culture at Tottenham, and will judge Berbatov by his ability and potential, not his past.


    And what ability. Berbatov has the physique to hold the ball, win headers and bring others into play, but is also quick enough to run through on goal, and scores the bread-and-butter goals Spurs lacked last season.


    Jol may see a player with an appetite for trouble, but he also sees a potential match-winner who can take Spurs onto the next level.

    Ich denke, Berbo hat eher Grund uns zu danken, seit 2001 haben alle Trainer von Bayer 04 Ihm Spielpraxis gegeben, obwohl er oft zu überheblich, zu faul, zu Läppisch Aufgetreten ist. Er durfe als junger Spieler in der Champions League spielen, im Finale stehen.


    Der Chancentot oder das schlampige Genie (K. Toppmöler) durfe bei uns Spielpraxis sammeln und sein enormes Potential entwickeln... er hat es mit vielen guten Spielen in den letzten Wochen gedankt und damit ist die Sache rund... das er wegen mehr Geld nach Tottenham wechselt, ist seine Sache...
    ich weine Ihm keine Träne nach.

    Chris Hughton reported that newcomers Dimitar Berbatov and Benoit Assou-Ekotto settled well on the first day of pre-season at Spurs Lodge.


    Striker Dimitar and full-back Benoit joined us from Bayer Leverkusen and RC Lens respectively in the summer and were introduced to their new team-mates on Wednesday.


    "It's an ideal day for the new lads to get to know everyone and they were both happy on their first day," said coach Chris.


    "Dimitar has a good grasp of the English language and although that's not the case with Benoit yet and it will take a little time, he's getting all the help he needs from us."


    The majority of the first team and development squads were back at the Lodge to begin pre-season preparations with fitness tests with the coaching and medical staff - the first steps leading to the big kick-off at Bolton on August 19.


    "The lads did very well," added Chris. "It was the normal routine on the first day back - measurements, weights, physical tests, medical tests and tests with the physiotherapists.


    "It's important for our assessments to get a good gauge on where players are at this stage of pre-season.


    "They've all worked well in the summer and as each year goes past, players are better prepared and certainly look after themselves in the summer.


    "It's always a nice day for them anyway, the first time they've been all together for a while and time to catch up."

    Die neuen Tottenham-Trikots kommen erst im August, hab mich schon informiert :LEV19 :D


    Die von letzter Saison scheinen schon aus dem Sortiment genommen worden zu sein.. Wayne :D Letztens gabs auf der Spurs-Seite aber noch welche.

    Richtig so das er noch offen ist finde wir sollten ihn auch auf lassen ....denn: Nächste Saison kommt er ja wieder um beim Deutschen Meister zu spielen :LEV8 :LEV2

    Wäre vielleicht aber eine Anregung einen eigenen Bereich für ehemalige Spieler aufzumachen.


    Auf der einen Seite haben wir dann einen thread für die akuellen Spieler und dann gäbe es eben einen für "Mögliche/Ehemalige Spieler".


    Nur so eine Idee!

    Gibt doch schon nen Thread mit dem Namen "Was macht eigentlich..."! Da geht es um ehemalige Bayer-Spieler
