Portsmouth to move for Bayer Leverkusen' Theofanis Gekas

Portsmouth's search for new goal-scoring options will see them launch a beat-the-deadline move for Theofanis Gekas.
Pompey officials have been locked in talks with Bayer Leverkusen to see if they can strike a deal at £5million for the Greece international Gekas, 28, is a proven marksman.
He was top scorer in the Greek League in 2004-05 and in the Bundesliga two years ago. He would provide the goalscoring threat Pompey lost with the departure of Jermain Defoe to Tottenham last month.
Pompey have also recruited Giovani dos Santos from Spurs in a £3.5m deal. The 19-yearold Mexican failed to make a major impact after being recruited from Barcelona..
