Almeida in Premiership links

Both Tottenham and Portsmouth are said to be keen on Portuguese international Hugo Almeida.

The 22-year-old striker is not considered first choice by coach Co Adriaanse and he has given the go-ahead for his departure.

Porto are now willing to let the striker move out on loan for a season with a view to a permanent deal and that is thought to appeal to the Premiership clubs, although Bayer Leverkusen are also being linked.

Almeida is a product of Porto's youth system, but he has never been given a major run in the first team - indeed he has seen more action in his various loan spells with Boavista and Uniao Leiria.

Despite Porto's reluctance to play Almeida, Portuguese coach Luiz Felipe Scolari capped him early on during their World Cup qualifying campaign.

Almeida is understood to have been informed of the interest from abroad and is open to the possibility of moving.

Stuttgarter Hinkel wechselt zum FC Sevilla - Vertrag bis 2010

Andreas Hinkel verlässt den Fußball-
Bundesligisten VfB Stuttgart und wechselt zum FC Sevilla. Der 24-
Jährige unterschrieb am Donnerstagabend in Spanien einen
Vierjahresvertrag. Das bestätigte VfB-Manager Horst Heldt. Die
Ablösesumme beträgt geschätzte vier Millionen Euro. Der ehemalige
Nationalspielers hatte beim VfB einen Vertrag bis 2007.

Hinkel, der seit seiner Jugend in Stuttgart spielte, hatte nach
einer schwachen Saison seinen Stammplatz beim VfB verloren. Für ihn
soll Eigengewächs Andreas Beck auf die rechte Position in der
Viererkette rücken. «Er hat in der Vergangenheit gezeigt, das er
diese Position ausfüllen kann», sagte Held.

Ich meine: das kann Carsten Ramelow nicht spielen. Vor allen Dingen nicht in einer Mannschaft, die das Spiel selbst machen will.
Wenn Skibbe konsequent bleibt und die taktische Entwicklung der Mannschaft weiter vorantreibt, dann ist Calle's Zeit in der Stammformation in der neuen Saison vorbei. Das ist denke ich die für Calle bittere sportliche Wahrheit.

Skysports.com understand Tottenham are closing in on the signing of Bulgarian striker Dimitar Berbatov.

Tottenham have been chasing the Bayer Leverkusen ace for some time and they are hoping to tie up a deal when the transfer window reopens next month.

The 25-year-old is regarded as one of the best forwards in Europe after impressing for club and country in recent seasons.

Bayer are resigned to losing the player with Berbatov seeking a new challenge after five years in Germany.

The player's agent Emil Dantchev has indicated that Berbatov has made a decision over his future and admitted he will reveal his new club next month.

"Spurs are interested for sure," Dantchev told skysports.com.

"Dimitar knows his future and in July he will make an announcement about his new club soon.

Bayer Leverkusen's director of sport Rudi Voller has admitted Tottenham have been in contact with them and that they are willing to meet their asking price for Berbatov.

"Tottenham have been in contact and are now prepared to pay the transfer fee," Voller told Bild.

"The decision now hangs on Dimitar."

Arsenal could be set to rival neighbours Tottenham for the signature of Dimitar Berbatov, according to reports in Germany.

Whilst the English press has strongly linked the Bulgarian forward with a big-money move to Spurs, sources in Cologne claim the Bayer Leverkusen star is wanted by Gunners boss Arsene Wenger.

Tony Adams has reportedly been spotted four times at Bayer's recent home games at the BayArena, sparking speculation that the former Highbury hero is scouting for Wenger.

Arsenal are looking for new talent as they prepare for their move to the new Emirates Stadium ahead of the 2006/2007 season.

The 25-year-old has a number of admirers across Europe and is rated in the £8 million class.

German striking legend Rudi Voller advised Berbatov against joining Spurs earlier in the year.

"He can leave for £10.7 million," said the club's sporting director. "He should play another year for us and wait for an offer from a top club.

"Nothing against Tottenham but such a player should wait a bit until he gets an offer from a top-three club."

Leverkusen macht mit Sieg in Trier Finaleinzug perfekt

Der deutliche Acht-Tore-Vorsprung aus dem Hinspiel des TSV Bayer Leverkusen geriet im Rückspiel in Trier nicht mehr in Gefahr. Die Mannschaft von Renate Wolf spielte konzentriert auf und gewann am Ende auch das Rückspiel, dies mit 28:25 (14:14). Leverkusen hat damit den Einzug in das Finale der Deutschen Meisterschaft perfekt gemacht, dort treffen die Bayer-Damen auf den HC Leipzig, der sich gegen den 1. FC Nürnberg durchsetzen konnte.
